Turkish Citizenship Property Purchase Limit is now 400,000 USD
With the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 13 May 2022 , the minimum property purchase limit for Turkish Citizenship was officially increased to 400,000 USD with an investment of 250,000 USD .
In January 2017, the Turkish Government announced a new way to acquire Turkish citizenship for foreigners: Property investment. At that time, the minimum purchase price for the Turkish citizenship program was set at 1,000,000 USD.
In a new regulation made in 2018, it was stated that the minimum property purchase amount to obtain Turkish Citizenship was reduced to $250,000. At the Presidential Cabinet Meeting held on April 12, the minimum real estate purchase limit was increased to $400,000 or equivalent foreign currency due to the serious increase in real estate prices in Turkey due to high demand.
There is also a declaration requirement stating that the property purchased for Turkish citizenship cannot be sold or transferred to someone else for 3 years.
The decision was officially published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey today. The article states that the new regulation for property purchase and citizenship in Turkey will be effective from 13 June 2022. The minimum property value for Turkish citizenship will remain at $250,000 until June 13, 2022.
How Long Can You Stay in Turkey If You Have Property?
A foreigner can stay in Turkey for 90 days within 180 days, whether he owns property or not. However, landlords can stay in Turkey longer than the specified time as a property owner.
The residence permit allows foreigners to stay in Turkey for more than 90 days. Landlords can apply for a residence permit with their title deeds. Foreigners who own property in Turkey have to renew their residence permits every year during the ownership period.
